Our art curriculum follows the AccessArt scheme, which is Broad, Rich, Contemporary And Diverse. Our Art curriculum provides children with the opportunities to develop their skills using a range of media and materials. Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and are given the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas. Children will be encouraged to question, reflect and become inspired through studying the works of artists, craftworkers and designers from a range of cultures and contexts, time and places.
It is paramount that artwork be purposeful; be this as a means of expression or to explore the styles of other artists that inspire their own work.
In Art, children are expected to be reflective and evaluate their work, thinking about how they can make changes and keep improving. Children are encouraged to take risks and experiment and reflect on why some ideas and techniques will work or not.
Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local artists with workshops and visits in school.
