Forgiveness
Our Christian Value this half term is Forgiveness
'Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.'
Luke 6:37
Everyone makes mistakes, it's part of being human. Sometimes mistakes hurt others and we need to say sorry. Sometimes mistakes made by other people hurt us. When this happens we need to be able to forgive. We will look at how God's love is so great that forgiveness is always possible.
We will look at stories such as the Prodigal Son and how his Father showed forgiveness like God shows us and Zacchaeus the Tax Collector and how Jesus believes everyone deserves a new start.
Please find time to read our 'Take Home Sheet' below with your child.
A Teaspoon Prayer for Forgiveness
Dear Lord,
Thank you that you offer forgiveness to all, through Jesus.
Sorry for the times when we have been slow to say sorry to others or not quick enough to forgive.
Please help us to ask for forgiveness when we make a mistake and to accept an apology kindly.
Amen
Forgiveness Prayer
Lord Jesus
Help us to be ready to show forgiveness to others,
As you are ready to show forgiveness to us.
Amen
Praying for Forgiveness
Dear Lord,
Thank you that you forgive us completely.
When people hurt us, please help us not to bear grudges,
and instead, ask for your strength to forgive.
Amen
Children's work
During our Collective Worship, the children and staff discussed what forgiveness meant to them and how it can be seen in school. Working together, the children recorded their thoughts on a forgiveness heart.
